DIMENSIONS OF TALENTS & GIFTS
1. Talented but Unskilled
2. Talented and Skilful
3. Talented, Skilful and Anointed!
The first category is about people who have talents but do not engage themselves in constant practise and training. No one was born a genius or skilful! It is all about practise & persistence which sharpens your talent and stand you out among your peers. You won’t get the best of a talent you don’t develop.
The Second Category is also better, this comprises of people who undergone training on their talents. It is very needful and essential to go for training, read to learn on how to maximise your talents, go for lessons, study people of like passion. Practise!
The third category is the best! Talented, skilful and Anointed!
You have the talent! You develop it and God’s anointing/Spirit breathe on you..wow! You are the bomb!
I am going to focus on this 3rd category. Examples of people on this category are
3.Kunle Ajayi(Nigerian: xaxophonist)
God instructed Moses on how to build the Ark of Covenant and God personally RECOMMENDED someone for the BUILDING CONSTRUCTION.
Here is what God told Moses:
“See, I have CHOSEN BEZALEL son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah,
—and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all kinds of skills— 4 to make ARTISTIC DESIGNS for work in gold, silver and bronze, -5 to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts. Exodus. 31:2-5. NIV
The gifts/talents are not only given to people whom God wants to use as pastors, Bishop, Reverends.. etc alone, God also gave gifts to people to profit in other fields/career.
God has more than pastoral work on the list of things He needs to get done.
Being filled with the Spirit of God is not for pastors alone.
You can be an anointed Architect like Bezalel. You can be anointed in your talent & Gift thereby standing out for God and impacting humanity in your generation.
Bezalel was not gifted to sing, write or compose songs, he couldn’t play musical instruments, he wasn’t talented to go to battle, he was not a warrior but he was a talented, skilful and anointed building contractor! He built God’s Temple.
King Saul who was initially an anointed and the favourite of God suddenly turned out to be a blatant disobedient king. 1.Samuel 15:1 to end.
As a punishment God rejected him as a king, took away His Spirit from King Saul and set an evil spirit to torment him from time to time.
Following the advise of his chiefs: he sought for a man who is skilful in playing harp! He needed a musician who could play to relieve him of the affliction.
David was RECOMMENDED to the king.
If you read 1.Samuel 16:you will discover that God had instructed Prophet Samuel to anoint David before he received a call to come and play music for King Saul, that was the empowerment of his destiny.
The awesome thing is that as David was playing music King Saul was getting relieved of his affliction. Anointing makes the difference!. David stood before the king!
Meditate: Imagine if David had played harp all his life without discovering *the more* God had in store for him.
Your talents are pointers to your assignment and tools to fulfill purpose.
Prayer: Father what would you have me do with my talents?
